Kerry Fashion Week Industry Awards '14

 Ciana March and I
Last Saturday I headed to Killarney for Kerry Fashion Week Industry Awards 2014 of which I was nominated for 'Best Blog'. Firstly let me say how flattered I was to be considered as a finalist in the first place, and also how happy I was for the girls of 'Concrete Collar' to walk away with the outright prize. Both girls work so hard on promoting young new designers and I was delighted to finally get the chance to meet Ciana on the night and instantly fell in love with her funky award dress by designer Jocelyn Murray Byrne.
As it was an award for helping to establish Irish design and fashion it was really important for me to wear likewise to last weekend's proceedings. A once HUGE 'Off the Rails' fan, I was delighted when Lennon Courtney sent me their navy beach dress from their Spring Summer '14 collection (also stocked in the Kilkenny Shop). The dress itself was so beautiful to wear and very different to my usual style but  definitely something that will look amazing on various shapes due to it's clever tailoring. As i was being gifted the dress for the evening, it gave me the opportunity to splash out on one of these Joanne Hynes bib necklace for the event which I had been lusting after for so long. Next on the list is one of her statement collars!

Apologies for the delay in this post, it's been a hectic week since last Saturday's events, where I was burnt out from wine-ing, dinning, driving the breath of the country and also participating in last Thursday's fashion show in Langton's in aid of Chernobyl Childrens International Charity. So this weekend I took some well deserved me time and spent it chilling out and browsing the shops, both in Kilkenny and Kildare. You may have seen on my Instagram that I took a trip up to Kildare Outlet Village today as part of their VIP sale and I'll do a post later this week on my naughty purchase(s).
Thank you to Dermot Fitzgerald for the above snaps!
Until next time Ducklings,

KFW Outfit Preview

Tonight is the closing event of Kerry Fashion Week 2014 and what better why to sign off another successful celebration of all things Irish design then a gala awards dinner in the 5 star Europe hotel. I am delighted to be a finalist in the best blog category and dressing up for the formal occasion to suit! I will be wearing (of course) and Irish designer for the night and the dress is simple but beautifully cut and tailored. The sample I was sent is unluckily for me designed for supermodels legs so I'll have to have the skyscraper emergency heels out tonight so expect lot of stooped photos. Once I had my dress organised, it allowed me to search for the perfect complimentary accessories. Unfortunately my Kate Spade bag is currently stuck in customs but I am in love with this Joanne Hynes bib necklace I purchased a few weeks back for tonight in question. Joanne who is originally from Galway, is one of the most talented designers in Ireland at present and has even collaborated with stores like Topshop and brands such as Pretty Polly since launching herself on the fashion circuit back in 2003. Her quirky and shout out loud pieces makes her one of my favourite designers at present and I am so excited to finally add a statement piece of hers to my wardrobe.

As much I am looking forward to tonight, my category is so strong and bursting with bright young talented bloggers so I won't hold my breath with carrying away the prestigious award but I am looking forward to catching up with familiar faces and meeting new ones! Be sure to pop by my Facebook or Instagram tonight to see the final reveal of my complete outfit!

I'm off to get ready as we speak!
Until next time Ducklings,

Miss Rebelette

Last weekend I took the trip to Cork to attend the annual Miss Cork pageant event  which took place in Fota Island Resort hotel. The beautiful location (which is also set to hold the forthcoming Irish Open Golf tournament as so my boyfriend tells me) is only a stones throw my home place so I had no excuse but to come along to the glamorous event on Saturday night. I have attended the last few years now and I much prefer having no emotional connection to the final announcement, as you could cut the tension with a knife over who would represent the rebel county at the Miss Ireland pageant later this year.

You may have seen on my Instagram account that I made a very naughty purchase in the Net A Porter sale last month when I saw this Mary Katrantzou skirt with a whopping 70% knocked off. Bargain-ish. I have been Mary-crazy for a few years now as my obsession with bold colour and optical illusion prints is still in full flight. Someone once told me my 'thing' for prints is due to my severe shortsightedness but I think she was talking crazy with that fact. If you're an opthamologist be sure to clarify! In the past, I was lucky enough to find a Katrantzou dress rental for my University graduation (thank God for that as the photo is cemented on the wall for eternity) and also picked up a rather convincing skirt dupe last Summer from Romwe (which is also the skirt featured on my cover banner for my blog!). But as I debated whether I would keep the extra-roomy large fitting but magnificent skirt, I discovered the tailor located in Newpark shopping centre who did an amazing job taking it in. Never did I think when I spotted this beauty on Laura Whitmore in Stellar magazine a few moons back that it would be homed in my closet at this very moment in time. Dreamy.

Of course, no other item of clothing would DARE to try and up stage this amazing landscape picture perfect skorta so I kept the accessories to a minimum and my shoes simple. My drop ball earrings are from Crystals & Co and my cuff from Newbridge Silverware. My shoes are Louboutin beauties (similar here) and the cream top is from the Loved by Mollie range at Oasis (similar here). Be sure to check out last year's outfit post from the 2013 Miss Cork final and let me know which outfit you prefer!

A huge congratulations to the overall winner who was a well deserved victor with her heart-felt answer in the question round. Well done Miss Cork 2014 Katie O'Donoghue! Thank you to David Kelleher from Pulse Event Management and Modelling Agency for inviting me once again and congratulations on another successful final. I know Katie will do everyone in Cork proud!

I'm so excited for Kerry Fashion Week's industry awards taking place this weekend to which I am a finalist in the Best Blog category. I'll be sure to give you a sneak peak at my outfit for it later on in the week. I can't wait to wear my beautiful Irish designed dress for the gala dinner!

Until next time Ducklings,
