On the 23rd of February I was invited to the final of Miss Cork 2013. I was an (unsuccessful) ex-contestant from two years previous, and it was important to me that I looked my best this night (for obvious reasons). It had been an overall positive experience when I entered in 2011. I gained new friendships, and rekindled my romance with my now boyfriend that very night (courtesy of Havana Browns). What man could resist a girl in a ballgown with a sash, in a nightclub?
My outfit for this final consisted of my skyscraper Kurt Geiger 'Hamilton' heels, the Maje 'Renard' black snake print racer back midi dress, and accessorised with a Michael Korrs look-a-like rose gold watch from high street favourite; River Island. My 'Russian Red' lips were chosen by Deirdre in MAC cosmetics Cork, to compliment my snakeskin red metallic Lulu Guinness clutch.
I had lusted over this lips bag for many years, but previously could not justify paying £295 for something I could only fit my IPhone, lipstick and credit card into. In January, I finally bought the bag in the sale, on the official Lulu Guinness' website, much to my sister's relief for listening to me go on about it. There are many copies of this bag available including one presently by Awear, in case you can't justify the price for fear that you will become tired of the bag quickly. However in my opinion, this quirky real deal clutch is a definite conversation starter, and playful piece to compliment any monotone outfit. It is perfect for first dates, theatre attendances and fancy dinners.
Disclaimer: If you do purchase this bag, photographing it held up to your face like your lips have swelled up after an allergic reaction to a bee sting is definite necessity.
On a final note, if you are wondering who did I lose out to in the final of Miss Cork 2011...here she is my fabulous friend; Anita O'Brien.
Until next time Ducklings,
