If the shoe fits...

Recently I have succumb to the modern trend of selling on my pre-loved items. It's never easy to let go of pieces that you may share history and secrets with. A spring clean out was a necessity though, as I finally merged my Galway college and Cork home wardrobes together, and hoped that I would see the colour of my bedroom carpet again. I had a fashion end goal in mind though. I was lusting over Carolina Issa's limited edition collection for LK Bennett for some time, and It was then that I decided that it was out with the old to make cash for the new.

The collection itself is a much needed breath of fresh air for LKB, who are the official shoe choice of Kate Middleton. One could say that their streamline low to high heels border on boring, and do nothing to capture the shoe imaginations of lady's in their twenties. That is until their collaboration with Caroline, and also their new 'Black Ribbon' collection which aims to target the younger fashionista.

These beautiful shoes do not disappoint. They are true to LKB form and are incredibly comfortable, and have even passed the nightclub test. The 'Parrot' shoe design is based on Caroline's recent trip to Thailand, and the vibrant colours and embroidery represent these oriental trend graciously. The shoes themselves retail at €305, and also come in beige with matching clutches, and other styles and heights. I replicated a 'Black Ribbon' outfit using a coral midi tube skirt from River Island S/S12 and a snake print tank top from The Kooples (€65) which is available to buy online.

Caroline Issa herself is a breath of fresh air. She had previously retweeted pictures of me wearing her shoe designs, and has commented on my pictures on instagram. She clearly has an appreciative connection with her fans and has grown in popularity for being so.

So how did I justify the price tag? I participated in UCC's Steal my Style event last month, organised by fellow Cork blogger Nessa Cotter. I filled a rail of previously worn dresses, bags, tops and jackets and had a financially successful night. I am delighted to admit that I sold enough pieces to fund the shoes. Keep an eye out on my blog tomorrow as I am going to put all subsequent unsold pieces on s special post. The items will be available for sale for a limited time only before been put on eBay.

So start spring cleaning your wardrobes and come along to the next Steal My Style event to make space for your new desirable fashion goodies!

Until next time duckings,
Love Vera xX
