The starry-eyed sister act

It is common knowledge that French couture has long been highly rated in both the beauty and fashion industry. Even though I am a avid follower of British fashion, I recently discovered two new French label loves.

Sandro was founded in the 80's by Morrocan immigrant Evelyn Chetrite. Chetrite then developed the Sandro label through the decades (along with her sidekick sister; Judith Milgrom) to be both an industry and international  success. Judlith subsequently founded her own lux label; 'Maje' in the late 00's. Even though both brands are atempting to create separate identities, but could easily appeal to the same shopper. Due to this fact, competition between the sisters must be fierce. If anything the two brands styles complement each other and provide more possiblities for outfit choices. Sizes in both go from a UK 8-14.

Irish women, however, may be quick to judge the apparent slim cuts and tailoring of the atypical petite french femme fatale. This is not the case though, as employees of both the Maje and Sandro concessions in Cork are of varying heights, shapes and ages, proving that us Irish can play a cross-nationality dress up if we wish.

This beautiful star blouse is from the Autumn-Winter 2012 Sandro collection and puts the 'S' in statement, and has been previously worn by Kelly Osbourne (see below). I themed it with the colbalt blue Maje crepe skirt for a more 'Caroline Flack' not so matchy-matchy style look. I had previously considered it as my University graduation oufit but opted instead for a longer heamline (which subsequently ended up not being so long either!).

Below is  my favourite picks of Sandro's Spring/Summer 2013 collection:

Both Maje and Sandro's collections can be found at:
I'd like to thank also Havana Browns, Cork for allowing me to take some snaps for this post. Check out their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/HavanaBrowns?rf=195485970467925

Until next time Ducklings,
